History of the club

The town of Norderstedt was founded in 1970 from the four municipalities of Glashütte, Harksheide, Friedrichsgabe and Garstedt. The ADAC in Kiel wanted to establish a local club in this new town. Advertisements were published in the local press and several motor sports enthusiasts from Norderstedt were personally invited to a founding meeting. This meeting took place on 10 November 1970 at the restaurant ‘Zum Tanneneck’. Of the 28 interested parties present, a founding committee consisting of 12 people was elected, which then elected the board members. The first chairman of the Norderstedt AMC was Hans-Joachim Mierendorff. The meeting elected Wolfgang Richter as sports director. Wolfgang Richter was chairman of the club from 1975 to 1991.

The club held its first events in the very first year after it was founded. In addition to a parking and skills tournament, the club organised the ‘1st Norderstedt Night Orientation Drive’ under the direction of Wolfgang Richter. From the very beginning, the club members also supported numerous rally events by organising special stages. In the following years, more and more new events were added.

On 1 September 1974, the first Steertpogg Slalom took place on Oststraße in Norderstedt. At that time, it was only 300 metres long, between Harkesheyde and Mühlenweg. In 1975, the first bicycle tournaments were held. In the following years, numerous children from Norderstedt qualified for the state championships and even the national championships. To this day, the slalom remains the event with the longest tradition. After various routes at IKEA in Kaltenkirchen (at that time) and also in Henstedt-Ulzburg at Allkauf, the slalom was held again in Norderstedt on Oststraße from 1986 onwards thanks to the energetic efforts of Stefan Willmann. The last slalom to date was the ‘31st ADAC Steertpogg Slalom’ in 2000. From 1996 to 2000, the Norderstedt AMC also held an ‘international’ slalom together with MSG Norderstedt.

Thanks to Kay Ripke, who actively supported the club during the first events, the Norderstedt AMC resumed the ‘Steertpogg-Ori’ in 1990 after a very long break. This orientation drive has been an integral part of club life for many years.

In 1991, Stefan Willmann became the first chairman of the Norderstedt AMC. To this day, he continues to support the club's events with his dedication. On his initiative, the club took over the Heidbergring Rally Sprint from MSC Hanseat in 1996 and continues to organise it to this day.

In 2008, the Rosenhof Rally Sprint was added. Thanks to the initiative and tremendous support of Kai-Dieter Kölle, this event has become a real highlight at the start of the season.
